Sound System Primer: Submission Page

Now that you are familiar with all the basic sounds of Portuguese, it is time to test how well you can hear and reproduce these sounds. This will be your third submission after Your First Recording and Benchmark Exam #1.

The Activity

Using the example on the right as a guide, record yourself doing the following in order:
  • The Oral Vowels: Clearly say all ten Portuguese oral vowels: (a...i...u...e...o...ɐ...ɛ...ɔ...ʊ...ɪ)
  • The Throaty ʁ (ʁa... ʁi... ʁu... ʁe... ʁo)
  • The Alveolar Tap: Say the following: a&a, i&i, u&u, e&e, o&o.

If you need to review, refer back to the Sound System Primer.
