Lesson 4: Eu Sou o Samba (Part 1)
Alexandre Pires do Nascimento (born January 8, 1976) is a Brazilian singer.
Pires began his career playing Pagode and a new, more romantic style of Samba called Samba Romântico. In 2001, Pires released his first solo album to much success. He has continued to release albums both in Portuguese and in Spanish achieving several hits in Latin charts.
In the song, "Eu Sou o Samba" (I am Samba), Pires uses Samba as a metaphor for winning the romantic love of a woman.
In the chorus, he sings that "I am Samba, and I am certain that I will win you over." This song also features Seu Jorge, who you will learn about in the second half of this unit.
