Memorization
In this section, you will combine everything you learned and commit the full lyric to memory. Memorization is the most challenging step of Rhythmic Phonetic Training. Depending on your auditory capabilities, prior familiarity with Portuguese sounds, and current levels of focus and mental energy, memorizing 26 syllables can take up anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes.
The good news is, once you put in the necessary repetitions and commit it to memory, YOU WILL REMEMBER IT FOREVER. Even if you never chant these lyrics again for the rest of the year, you will still be able to recall these lyrics perfectly as if you had learn them the day before. That's the power of musical memory.
Be sure to take breaks as necessary. Your brain is like any other muscle, and will fatigue and become incapable of learning new things. If you find yourself hitting a ceiling, go do something else for a few hours and come back. Actually, you will notice that, after a night of sleep, everything you struggled through today will be EXTREMELY easy tomorrow. This is how motor and cognitive development works. The actual connections are not actually created until after you rest, and most neural connections are generated during your sleep.

- Each step gradually combines the grouping you learned in Construction. Follow the steps in order, as they follow a natural progression to memorizing the entire lyric.
- For each audio file, the given line will be on loop for around 1 minute. Chant along with the artist, trying hard to overlap and match your pronunciation exactly.
- Repeat the above step until you are able to chant through the entire minute-long file without error.
- Once you have achieved this, sing the lyrics out loud to yourself twice, not worrying about keeping a steady beat. It will be very challenging to recall the syllable order, but the ACTUAL RECALL PROCESS IS WHAT INGRAINS THE SYLLABLE ORDER INTO YOUR MEMORY, SO BE PATIENT WITH YOUR BRAIN AND DO NOT REFER BACK TO THE AUDIO UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY INCAPABLE OF RECALLING A SYLLABLE.
- Once you have achieved this, clap a steady beat and chant the lyrics out loud to yourself 10 times in a row. When you are capable of this, you can move on to the next step.
